WHAT’S the best way to celebrate a 100th birthday? An action-packed day of climbing, hunting for creepy crawlies, a spot of pond-dipping and some food, of course.

A group Pembroke Dock Brownies celebrated 100-years of girl guiding with a fun-filled visit to Bluestone National Park Resort.

The group of 14 girls, aged between seven and 10 from Second St Patrick's Brownies, spent the day climbing, followed by a mini beast hunt for creepy crawlies out in the forest, pond-dipping and a meal in the Wild Wood Cafe.

Second St Patrick’s Brownies guider leader Natalie Donohoe said: “We came to Bluestone as a group last year and had a fantastic time, so we thought where better to celebrate the 100th birthday? The girls were very excited to come back.”

Sheryl Roberts, also a guider leader, added: “We like to encourage the girls to take part in active, healthy pursuits and learn about the outdoor environment, so Bluestone was the ideal place to go.”

The visit was part of a six month celebration which has seen the Second St Patrick’s girls travel the county for a number of events including the Big Brownie Stay Away in Sealyham Activity Centre, Haverfordwest.
