THE sun shone on Pembroke Dock as the community came together for a bicentenary picnic at the town’s Memorial Park.
The Messy Church picnic, which took place on July 5, saw people of all ages join in the fun.
There was a paper aeroplane competition and plenty of ball games to entertain the children.
The competition was judged by Pembroke Dock mayor Councillor Pam George, Sgt Dorinda Sherwood, a non-commissioned officer with I/C 1574 (Pembroke) Sqaudron Air Cadets, and Steve Bessant, who is training to be a church minister.
There were prizes for the best decorated plane and the one which went the furthest, with every child being given a toy plane to go home with. The afternoon ended on a high with a treasure hunt around the park.
Organiser Marina Evans, who is also training to be a church minister, said: “It was a fun day for everyone and Messy Church had the opportunity to reach out to others in the community.”
Messy Church is a family-friendly way of doing church held on the first Saturday of each month at St John’s Community Hall.
