A BEAUTY queen hopeful is giving something back by raising money for a domestic abuse charity which helped her flee an abusive relationship.

Amy Remington, 25, of Pembroke, will go head-to-head with other hopefuls at the finals of Face of Purity UK in Somerset on Saturday (July 26).

The mother-of-two is raising money for Hafan Cymru – a charity which provides housing and support services to women, men and their children, particularly those escaping domestic abuse.

The charity gave Amy all of the support she needed to leave an abusive partner.

“They basically saved my life,” she said. “Hafan is a really, really valuable charity and when I found out I needed to raise money for a charity, my first thought was them. I really wanted to give something back.”

Amy, who is training to be a teeth whitening technician, has raised about £250 so far but she is looking to boost her total before this weekend’s competition.

And the best part? If she wins, all of the money raised by her fellow competitors will go to Hafan Cymru.

“I’m trying really hard to win because if I do thousands of pounds will be donated to my charity,” Amy said.
