FOUR local men proved they can overcome any obstacle by completing a ‘survival’ charity challenge.

Di Moseley, Alex Brace, Stephen Davies and Phil Mills work for LBS Builders’ Merchants in Pembroke Dock.

The foursome were among 80 LBS employees to take part in the Men’s Health Survival Of The Fittest urban assault course in Cardiff on September 28.

The 13.5k course, concentrated in and around the Cardiff Bay area, started and finished outside the Wales Millennium Centre and the Welsh Assembly, on the waterfront of Cardiff Bay.

With ten obstacles to complete along the course, including a hay bale wall, tire squeeze crawl, scaffolding tower maze, white water rapids and the 8ft high ‘Wall Of Fame’ to finish, the course is a test of stamina, grit, speed and guts.

With sponsorship monies on target to reach over £12,000, five good causes will benefit from the LBS team effort, British Heart Foundation, Cancer research UK, Maggies. BOBATH (Childrens Therapy Centre Wales) and Macmillan.

The causes were nominated by staff members.

Mark Davies, LBS Managing Director, said “We were overwhelmed by the number of colleagues who work with us every day, that have real pressures at home with parents, children or close relatives, who are unwell.

“These staff make no fuss, do not complain and just get on with it.”

“The initial idea to enter the event was not only to raise money for good causes but also to build stronger teams within the business and promote ‘wellness’.

“Training together in groups for the last six months has been great for team building and general fitness levels, I truly believe our business is stronger for the whole experience.”
