SATURDAY’s annual Pembroke River Rally was a great success once again; and even had not one, but two, mayors abseiling down the town’s castle walls for charity.

A flotilla of vessels lead by the flagship Dashing, carrying Pembroke Mayor Pauline Waters and her guests, including Pembroke Dock Mayor Peter Kraus cruised along the Pembroke River before making a grand entrance into the Castle Pond.

In addition to the Parade of Sail were numerous stalls and displays, with entertainment provided by the Vagrants Crew.

Pembroke Town Clerk Suzie Thomas said: “We’ve received lots of positive feedback, and we could not have asked for a better day weather-wise, the sun shone all day. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and put their hands in their pockets to support the various charities and stall holders, and a special thank you to West Wales Maritime Heritage especially David James, who every year, guides the boats up safely into the pond.”

Cllr Peter Kraus, dressed as Henry VII during his abseil, said: “The Henry VII abseil was absolutely brilliant with the crowd cheering me on, I wanted to do it a second time; I loved every minute of it.”
