STAFF and contractors of Dragon LNG got together for a cake sale recently to raise funds for Pembrokeshire Cancer Support.

The charity, based in Queen Street Pembroke Dock, helps cancer sufferers and their families alleviate the physical and mental distress caused by cancer as well as educating people about the condition.

Charity coordinator Lyn Neville contacted Dragon LNG asking for donations to sell its shop and the company, based in Waterston, decided to help raise awareness among its staff by selling cakes as well as raising money.

Nearly £150 was raised which Dragon LNG will match fund to bring to £300. On top of this staff brought in unwanted things from home suitable for the shop.

“I am overwhelmed by the donations from all of the staff,” said Mr Neville.

“I filled my car to the roof with books, clothes, handbags and other bits. It is hard for small local charities to raise their profile and we are grateful to Dragon LNG for their help in doing this.”

Lynette Fenwick, acting external affairs and facilities coordinator for Dragon LNG, added: “We are delighted that our staff have taken the time and effort to bake and buy cakes on the day as well as donating for the shop. As a company we are committed to Pembrokeshire and to helping local charities support local people.”
