A LAMPHEY octogenarian is to brave the thought of a 12,000 foot skydive to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Sheila Smith, 82, of Zion House, came up with the thrilling fundraising idea during a recent meeting with Pembroke Dock Mayor Peter Kraus, who is raising funds for the society during his year of office.

Cllr Kraus said: “On Tuesday, September 8 I went to meet a fantastic lady whose name is Mrs Sheila Smith; I was amazed at how fit she was, when I asked her what she would like to do the reply was a tandem parachute jump. After I got my breath back I said OK.

“Mrs Smith is doing this Jump to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society because one of the members of the family has dementia.

“I have contacted Sky Dive Swansea and we are now awaiting application and medical forms.

“Believe it or not she is scared of heights.”
