SCHOOL life at Pembroke’s Golden Grove has settled in to a well-established rhythm this term.

The school has welcomed two new members of staff; the newly appointed deputy head teacher Hannah Griffiths and Year 3/4 teacher Sion Jenkins have been settling in to their respective role.

As well as her deputy head role, Hannah is the teacher for Class 7, a Welsh Medium Year 6 group of children.

After school clubs, providing extended hours learning provision, are well underway. Clwb Y Ddraig run by Miss Watton has been set up for Welsh learners and The Jackanory Club welcomed a large group from across the school to listen to stories. Cook It, always a popular club, has just restarted.

A new breakfast club is now operating at the school, with breakfast on offer at no charge from 8am. Numbers are growing well with spaces available for more. Enquiries can be made through the school office.

School assemblies have been busy on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with celebrations of achievements achieved in academic, personal and sporting events.

The school was well represented at the recent Ironman and Ironkids events in Tenby, with Sion Jenkins putting in an excellent performance around the gruelling course, no doubt spurred on by the banners of support on the school fence.

Gayle Lister and Lee Brazier, who have children in the school, also finished the event, which saw some 2,000 athletes take part.

At a photo session for the athletes, school head teacher Andrew Williams acknowledged their achievements and wished them well in the future.

Sports continue to be an important part of school life. Pupils are involved in netball and cross country training and we look forward to seeing our pupils at local, regional and hopefully national events.
