THE first-ever Pembroke Dock Community School Sport Council was officially formed recently.

The council has been created in order to give the pupils of the school a voice and to participate in helping to improve the provision for sport in the school.

Miss Chiffi, who is leading the council, said: “The remit of the council is to make pupils an integral part of moving the school forward with regards to sport. Often the views of the pupils are overlooked and this council will allow their voices and opinions to be recognised.”

The council has already been busy writing letters to local businesses to support the school's drive to upgrade sports kits and is waiting to hear back for how they could help the school.

The school celebrated Harvest last week with Key Stage 2 pupils travelling down to the Zion Chapel and Foundation Phase pupils celebrating in the hall.

All pupils sang their hearts out, spoke beautifully and read confidently. The school would like to that Pastor Dafydd and Rev. Nicky for leading the festivities at the Chapel.

There was an excellent turnout of parents and friends of the school who showed their support and were very happy to hear such wonderful singing from all the pupils.

In other school news, there have been several workshops for Year 5 pupils, who have been working with Steve Smith on specific computer programming skills.

The workshops, designed specifically for more able and talented pupils, really engaged and enthused the pupils and developed lots of new skills for those who participated. Mr Smith will be working closely with Years 3, 4 and 5 on a weekly basis.
