KEEN local historians from Cosheston WI had a tour of Pembrokeshire Archives and Local Studies recently.
The centre cares for Pembrokeshire’s written culture, history and heritage, and provides access to the extensive original and published sources held there.
The WI group was welcomed by Archives Manager Claire Orr, before learning about the work of the conservation department, where the documents are cleaned and repaired.
Members then went ‘behind the scenes’ to the repository where the county’s archives are kept.
Based in Prendergast, Haverfordwest, the Pembrokeshire Archives and Local Studies service is part of Pembrokeshire County Council.
Details of opening hours, location, readers’ tickets, scale of charges and other information can be found on its website www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/archives or on Facebook.
