PEMBROKE Dock and Pembroke drew the crowds to two special festive events on Friday and Saturday.

Pembroke Dock’s annual winter festival, held on Friday evening, proved a great success once again with hundreds attending the colourful spectacle.

The festival, complete with a colourful lantern parade, left the town’s youth centre in Bush Street at 6pm from the town’s youth centre in Bush Street, led by the Silver Band.

The parade through the town’s main streets, was followed by a spectacular fireworks display at the Western Way car park.

In the run-up to the parade, youngsters had been creating the colourful lanterns in special workshops held at the youth centre.

Pembroke Dock Mayor Peter Kraus said: “It went very well, I was very impressed, it was fantastic; the lanterns were spot-on.

“It was absolutely brilliant, there were hundreds there, absolutely fantastic.”

The following day, Pembroke saw Golden Grove School’s first-ever charity Jingle Jog festive run through the town’s Main Street, starting and finishing at Pembroke Castle from 10am, with eager runners, dressed as Christmas characters, taking part.

Golden Grove Headmaster Andrew Williams said it was hoped the event, which attracted 150 entrants, would become an annual attraction in the town.

The Jingle Jog, led by Pembroke Mayor Pauline Waters and Town Crier Rose Blackburn, saw many festive entrants, including reindeers, elves and even Christmas presents take part.

“We appreciate the help from Pembroke Town Council and Pembroke Castle,” said Mr Williams “It was a fantastic event.”
