PEMBROKE Dock Community School has had a busy time recently.

The school is very proud of Year 5 pupil Lucas Thomas, who plays football for the Haverfordwest Academy.

Recently, Lucas travelled up to Cardiff to play opposite the Cardiff City Football Stadium and play for the academy.

On a rain drenched morning, Lucas was able to show off his tremendous talents against a very good side, and we are pleased that Lucas was so happy with his performance.

The school has many pupils who have been selected to play for a range of academies in West Wales and is very proud of their sporting achievements.

The school’s eco-committee has also being showing its eco credentials.

Last Year Pembroke Dock Community School joined in with the rest of the town and celebrated its bi-centenary year.

To mark this special event, trees have been planted in different areas of the town, and recently the school was finally able to plant its oak tree in the school grounds.

The eco-committee was joined by Councillor Pam George and the chairman of the governing body, Phil Bowen, in digging a suitable sized hole and planting the beautiful oak tree.

Mrs Holt, who leads the eco-committee, said: "The pupils are really pleased to have this beautiful tree in the school grounds to remind them of this special event. The eco-committee in particular, will be keeping a very close eye on it, making sure it gets watered daily so the roots bed in.”

The school would like to thank Grandiflora for providing the tree and assisting the pupils in planting it.
