PEMBROKE Mayor Pauline Waters has praised the role of the community in both the recent successful Christmas celebrations and in supporting her chosen charity.

“It was lovely to see the Christmas lights up and all the Nativity scenes in the shop windows of Pembroke, proclaiming the true meaning of Christmas, which has perhaps been forgotten over the years,” said Cllr Waters.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Golden Grove School and Monkton Priory Community School for participating in the making of the Nativity scenes.

“It was a delight to be involved in the First Christmas Fun Run, organised by Grove School, in which over 100 people took part, and hope this will be a future date on our calendar.

“I have been too many fantastic events during the last seven months, and was delighted to see such a big turnout in the Christmas carol services in both the churches and the schools.

“We must not forgot all of those who could not be at home this Christmas with their loved ones, armed forces, police, fire and the charities who provide excellent warmth food and comfort for those who have nothing.

“I would Like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported myself and my charity: Community Youth of Pembroke, and am looking forward to raising more funds for this very worthwhile cause this year.

“I wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe 2016.”
