NINE Pembroke pupils who successfully completed a 12 week engineering project with Greenlinks of Pembroke celebrated last week.

A one-and-a-half hour go-karting session at Heatherton was the Golden Grove pupils’ reward for the hard work put in to rebuild three go-karts at the Greenlinks workshop in Pembroke.

During the project they learned new skills and techniques and were introduced to working in an industrial environment.

At Heatherton they were given a detailed safety briefing and driving tips by the karting staff before setting off in the pouring rain around the track.

Weaving through bends and overtaking each other the pupils enjoyed two session on the track. Leaving the pits at the end of the sessions it was clear from their beaming faces that it had been an enjoyable experience.

Head Teacher Andy Williams said: "The karting session was another chance for the pupils to learn new skills and have some fun. We are grateful to Greenlinks and Heatherton for making this session a great success."
