A RECENT abseil held at Pembroke Castle on the Queen's 90th Birthday raised nearly £1,200 for charity.

The abseil, organised by Aden Brinn, a Pembroke town councillor, raised funds for the Welsh Guards Charity.

A similar event of an abseil was also held at Pembroke Castle last August and a coffee morning at Pembroke Town Hall last December. The total raised to date is £1, 170.

The Corps of Drums, 1st Battalion Welsh Guards came to support Cllr Brinn and his team of abseilers, who marched through Pembroke’s Main Street into the castle, followed by children from the local schools.

Cllr Brinn wishes to thank all sponsors who supported them in what was a memorable day, including John Williams of Tenby Climbing Wall, the safety company for the event, and Jon Williams, manager of Pembroke Castle.

Other events planned for the future to raise funds for the Welsh Guards charity include a parachute jump and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania/Kenya.
