A FUND-RAISING party in Pembroke Castle raised more than £1,000 for Pembroke Town Walls Trust.

At the June 18 event the Trust launched an online crowdfunding campaign, Climb Through Time.

The campaign will raise money for a staircase and viewing platform that will rise up from the Tabernacle Gardens linking it to the Tabernacle building and Main Street.

The viewing platform will stand 40ft above The Commons creating a truly dramatic experience with stunning views along the medieval stone walls and out across the south of the town to the bordering hillsides.

A total of £1,027 was raised on the day.

Organiser, Pembroke county councillor Daphne Bush said: “Members cannot thank everyone enough for such a great reward for their fund-raising at the Party in the Castle on Saturday last.

“The wonderfully happy atmosphere created by your enjoyment was priceless. Our thanks to the many families for spending the evening with us. As time evolves and funds build, you are enabling the Trust's aims to be achieved. You can all be proud to know that you have helped to restore a massively important part of Pembroke. Help us too if you wish, we are always keen to have new support.

“Our enormous gratitude also to the variety of exhibitors and musicians, our sponsors Valero and Pembroke Power Station, Pembroke Castle Manager, Trustees, Castle staff, Carys, Gemma and Jason, all totally impossible without you all donating your time for this event.”
