PEMBROKE’S Golden Grove School has been a hive of activity this term, with staff welcoming many new pupils to the school.

Over the past few weeks, pupils have been involved in a range of exciting activities both in and out of school.

The Ironman Wales weekend was a great time for budding athletes to have a go at the Iron Kids events. Pupils from the school took part and showed great promise for the future.

One group of pupils also had the chance to combine a love of pizza with developing their culinary skills. They had a chance to visit a Pizza Express business to learn all about the art of making the dough delight.

The focus was on ingredients and the costs involved making a pizza. Weights, measures, timing and quality were discussed as the pupils produced their own Margherita Pizza.

The taste test was an important part of the lesson, and a massive 'thumbs up' was given.

Last Friday saw a well-attended coffee morning at the school.

Held in support of McMillan Cancer the school hall was transformed in to one huge coffee shop with thanks to Morillos Cofffe.

Cakes, biscuits and other treats were provided by staff and parents, £540 was raised for McMillan.

Looking back on the past few weeks of the autumn term, Head Teacher Andy Williams said: “Once again the school has become a hive of activities which support and enhance pupils’ education. We are grateful for all the support we have from our parents, families and the wider community in what we do.”
