A PEMBROKE Dock Community School pupil’s campaign to raise funds for Withybush’s Ward 10 through her prize-winning collage of the Pembrokeshire Flag has reached a significant milestone.

Elly, the daughter of Lyn and Ann Neville, has been raising funds through the Elly's Ward 10 Flag Appeal.

Elly's Appeal, which officially started on May 1, 2015, has passed the £50,000 raised for Ward 10 (Cancer Ward) at Withybush Hospital.

Lyn said: “A huge thank you is due to everyone who has helped, donated, supported, encouraged or done anything to get to this truly amazing total. This is even more amazing given that the first aim was to reach just £50 for Ward 10.

“We have been amazed at the support of local and national businesses for Elly's Appeal and the donations from individuals throughout the county and beyond has been fantastic.

“Everyone knows the superb work undertaken by the nurses and staff on Ward 10 and it is very important to show them that they are valued. Our family has been affected by cancer and we wanted to show our support by raising some funds.

“Progress is continuing towards the upgrade of Ward 10 and the family hope that more equipment will be purchased soon to support patient environment and experience, or as Elly says: ‘plumpy cushions and fluffy blankets’. Being an inpatient is difficult enough so anything that can be done to ease that stay is welcome.

“Elly's Appeal would ask the Pembrokeshire public to continue to show its support for Ward 10, and with Christmas getting closer if you are considering a charitable donation please consider Elly's Ward 10 Flag Appeal.”
