IT WAS a busy time at Pembroke’s Golden Grove School just before the half-term break.

Ninety pupils took part in the Hundleton Cup Cross Country Running competition with some excellent performances.

The school took a number of year group places in both girls and boys races and were worthy overall winners of the cup.

A school team was made up from the runners at the Hundleton event, they represented the school at the Oakwood Cross Country championships.

The team enjoyed a number of successes with some first-class individual runners.

Continuing in the sporting theme it was pleasing to see family members of the school taking part in the recent Go Tri event in Pembroke.

The school entered a staff relay team; Mr Williams, Mr Jenkins and Mrs Bruce for the event. They took first overall in the relay category.

A group of children made the journey north to St Davids for a fun-packed day with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Stream dipping for invertebrates, sweep netting for hedge and heat bugs and creative art sessions with finds from the natural environment were all enjoyed.

Head Teacher Andy Williams said: “It’s been a fantastic half term, classes and groups from the school have been engaged in a wide range of learning and sporting activities.”
