PEMBROKE Dock Community School Year 6 pupils enjoyed their recent two night residential visit at the Urdd Centre in Cardiff.

An action packed two-and-a-half days saw the pupils visit the Principality Stadium, boat tripping in Cardiff Bay, ice skating at the National Rink, see a superb performance of Mary Poppins at the Millennium Centre, visit the Doctor Who experience, and enjoy swimming and bowling.

One pupil was heard saying: "It was the best trip they had ever been on".

On arriving back Mrs Morris, head of Year 5 and 6, said: "The trip was brilliant and superb value for money, the behaviour and mature attitude of the students was great to see I am sure that the pupils have returned with lifelong memories to cherish.”

There have been several immersion days at the school since pupils returned from the Christmas holidays.

Early Years and reception classes had their winter wonderland immersion day, while year 1 and 2 enjoyed a space-themed day.

Recently the year 3 and 4 wings morphed into the pyramids of ancient Egypt, as they spent a day learning about their topic.

Dressing up, dancing, eating food from Egypt and immersing themselves in all things Ancient Egypt let the pupils have a memorable experience which will help to extend their learning further as the delve deeper into the topic.

As part of its science work, year 2 at the school has been experimenting to see how a mixture of ingredients could create a reaction that leads to a rocket (juice bottle) firing in the air. The pupils were stunned to see how the mixture of vinegar and baking soda saw some of the rockets flying up to 20 metres in the sky.
