PEMBROKE and District Male Voice Choir enjoyed a very good turnout for its annual June pilgrimage to St John's Church, Tenby.

The concert saw most of the church seats filled, 99 per cent by holidaymakers.

Church member Carol Thomas welcomed everyone, and introduced the choir, which started with three items: With a Voice of Singing, Shenandoah, and Stout Hearted Men.

Next up was Alyson with a lovely flute rendition of Pie Jesu. Aly then teamed up with Jenny to sing In The Garden.

Three more from the choir: You Raise Me Up, Pokarekareana, and Cwm Rhondda, brought the end of the first half.

During the interval, Phil discovered the audience hailed mainly from England, with a few from Scotland and Ireland, and one couple from Austin, Texas, after which all present sang Love Divine, All Loves Excelling.

To start the second half, the choir sang three items: It's a Grand Night for Singing, The Rose, and You'll Never Walk Alone, followed by Alyson, who gave a lovely flute rendition of Bright Eyes, then once again teamed up with Jenny to sing Mansion Over the Hilltop.

The choir brought the concert to a close with two items: As Long as I Have Music, and American Trilogy, and for an encore, and in honour of one of the choir wives, Ruth Owens, who had recently received good news, The African Prayer. Carol Thomas gave thanks, and closing prayer, to end a lovely night of music.

Choir conducted by Chris Lloyd, accompanied by Jenny Griffiths, assisted by Alyson Griffiths.
