ANGLE RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was alerted on Sunday, June 25, at the request of the UK Coastguard, to assist a 17 foot leisure fishing vessel, which had engine failure and was taking on water off Burton.

There were two people and a dog on board.

The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched at 5.08pm. While the lifeboat was making best speed to the casualty, a nearby RIB had responded to the Coastguard’s ‘mayday’ broadcast and was alongside assisting the vessel.

The water ingress was slowed and the RIB took the fishing boat in tow and berthed her alongside the pontoon at Rudders Boatyard, Burton, so repairs could be carried out.

The lifeboat arrived on the scene at 5.31pm, along with Broad Haven Coastguard. Once it was confirmed that no further assistance was required, the lifeboat returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 6.13pm.
