PEMBROKE School is holding a swan-song musical based on a Disney classic for three days next week.

The performances of Beauty and the Beast take place at the school on July 10, 11, and 12, with a cast of 110 pupils, ranging from Year 7- Year 13, and a further 30 pupils supporting backstage.

The cast has been rehearsing since February, and the production will be the last musical in Pembroke School in the current building, as the school is moving to a new build for 2018.

It will also be the last musical for Head Teacher Frank Ciccotti, and the school is grateful for all the support he has given during productions over the 20 years that he has been head teacher.

Director Pete Kingdom said: "We are very grateful for the support and commitment of our very talented pupils in what we hope to be a successful presentation of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast.

“This year’s performance will be the last musical for many of our cast so can I take this opportunity to thank Becks Beynon, Mikey Bowen, Will Mastin, Jack Evans, Meredith Fletcher, Eve Humphreys, Toni Abrams, Ethan Beard for their contributions to the Performing Arts Department of the last few years.

“This is my second musical as director and although it has been difficult with this being such a large show, it has been thoroughly enjoyable.

“All of this cannot go ahead without our dedicated team behind the scenes, and can I personally thank Elaine Page and Hannah Lowe, who are not only a pleasure to work with but very talented professionals.

“We hope to see many of you there on the show nights, as tickets are selling extremely quickly. Please feel free to enjoy a night of entertainment, we at Pembroke School promise a night of song, romance and tears. Please... we insist... be our guest."

Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for children and concessions, available from school reception.

Doors open at 6pm and curtains open at 6.30pm.
