SAFER surfing - not of the internet kind - was a great experience delivered by Outer Reef Surf School to Pembroke’s Golden Grove School pupils recently.

Youngsters from the school went local to discover the delights of surfing at local beaches. The pupils enjoyed the experience, and, who knows, there may be a Welsh champion in the making.

Children at the school have also learned about first aid.

Twenty one pupils recently completed a 10 week course in basic first aid around everyday emergencies they might encounter. They learned how to deal with choking, bleeds and how to deliver CPR to a patient.

There was also an action-packed day in Saundersfoot for Criw Cymraeg members when they took part in Tanio’r Ddraig.

From rapping with Mr Phormula, to PE skills with Steffan Hughes-they had a fantastic day. The highlight was a well-earned ice cream-hufen ia. In the words of one of the pupils attending: “What a wonderful day.”

As part of National School Sports Week, the school held a session for the children to have a go at different activities and games.

There was plenty more going on for pupils, with a trip to Stackpole woods, where groups from the school have been enjoying a wide range of environmental experiences with The National Trust.

Den building, orienteering and pond dipping were just some of the activities to inspire pupils to explore their environment.

Head Teacher Andy Williams said: “Pupils have enjoyed a wide range of experiences over that past two weeks. They will gain much from these experiences and will help them appreciate what a wonderful part of the world they live in.”
