TWO sporty youngsters from the Pembroke Dock area raised £200 for the Tenovus cancer charity by taking part in the recent Ironman Ironkids event.
Aimed at encouraging healthy participation in sport, the sold-out event saw youngsters aged three-14 run a distance of between 500 metres and 1.5 kilometres through Tenby town centre, before crossing the red carpet and receiving their medals under the same iconic finish line arch used for Ironman Wales the following day.
Among those taking part were 11-year-old Dylan, a pupil at Pembroke School, and his sister Molli, eight, who attends Pennar Junior School.
Their gran, Angela Sharkey, is the manageress at the Tenovus Cancer Care charity shop in Pembroke, and they decided to run the ‘Ironkids’ – 1.5km race (Dylan) and 1km race (Molli), on Saturday September 9, in aid of the charity.
They both finished the race and raised £200 for Tenovus.
