A PEMBROKE Dock school is one of more than 30 schools, colleges and training providers across Wales which has been recognised for its excellence.

Pembroke Dock Community School was one of 34 education settings to receive the award from education inspectorate, Estyn.

Head teacher Michele Thomas and Deputy Head Stefan Jenkins, received the Excellence Award certificate from Cabinet Secretary Kirsty Williams and Meilyr Rowlands, Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales.

Mrs Thomas said afterwards: “It was great to celebrate all of the hard work staff, pupils, governors and the community has done over the years that has led up to the school achieving excellence.

“We have had a relentless focus on driving up standards whilst balancing it with innovation and creativity which has engaged the pupils.

”The whole school community are delighted to achieve this recognition and are celebrating with parents this week at a special event where pupils are showcasing what has made the school excellent.”
