PEMBROKESHIRE Coast National Park Authority is encouraging youngsters to create some dazzling dragon designs for a special competition.

You can draw, paint, sculpt, print, collage or even use recycled materials to create your own mythical beast.

All the entries will be put on display at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids, where the Tower will be transformed into a dragon’s lair packed with designs in all shapes and sizes as part of the upcoming St David’s Day celebrations.

Oriel y Parc Manager Paula Ellis said: “This competition offers a brilliant opportunity for budding artists to get involved in the festivities here at Oriel y Parc by creating some original artwork to celebrate St David’s Day using one of Wales’ most popular national emblems.

“We want to fill the Tower with dragons, whether red, green, fiery or sleepy. Your design could even be an illustrated poem or a story dragon, so get busy and let those dragons fly into Oriel y Parc.”

All you need to do to enter once you have finished creating your fiery friend is bring it to Oriel y Parc by February 21, making sure it is clearly marked with your name, age and contact details.

The entries will be judged by local artist Rod Williams and prizes will be awarded in two categories; Junior for those 11 years and under, and senior for those 12 years and over.

The dragons will be on display in the Tower at Oriel y Parc ready for the St David’s Day celebrations on Saturday, March 1, and with the annual Dragon Parade taking place on the same day, your work could be seen by hundreds of people.

The dragons will remain on display until March 30 and can be collected after this date.
