STAFF and pupils at Ysgol Solfach recently dressed up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day, but it wasn’t all for fun, there was a serious reason behind it.
During the day pupils completed a rather wet but very successful fun run, and later on parents were invited to an afternoon tea, where cakes were sold.
All the money raised was donated to local resident Peter Shea who will be running the London Marathon in aid of the NSPCC.
Mr Shea also held a number of fundraising competitions in the school hall such as designing a poster and guessing how many Smarties were in a jar.
In total, the school raised £224.55 for the NSPCC and the children personally presented Mr Shea with a cheque and their messages of support. As a thank you Mr Shea donated an audio book of Roald Dahl stories which will be available in the school library.
