A MAJOR search was carried out in the St Davids area on Friday night (May 30) after a 31-year-old woman was reported missing.

Both St Davids RNLI all weather and inshore lifeboats were launched at around 10.40pm, as well as coastguard teams from St Davids and Fishguard, police officers and a search and rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor.

The inshore search covered Carreg Fran rock, Caerfai beach, Porthclais harbour, and this was followed by an out to sea search in case the woman had entered the water.

After a thorough search by all agencies nothing was found and all units were stood down at 2.20am.

At 9.10am the following morning, as the coastguard teams were preparing to launch again, they were informed by the coastguard sector manager that the woman had been found safe and well in St Davids.
