MORE Dylan Thomas themed events are set to take place in St Davids over the coming months as Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales continue to celebrate the centenary of the Welsh poet’s birth.

One of the highlights of the event calendar will see journalist and leading biographer Andrew Lycett, author of Dylan Thomas: A New Life, talk about the poet’s life and work at Ysgol Dewi Sant, at 7pm on Saturday, September 20.

Tickets for the event are available at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre by calling 01437 720392 or call into the centre between 9.30am and 5pm. Tickets are £5 and £4 for concessions.

Bryony Dawkes, Partnership Projects Curator at Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales said: “We're thrilled to have such an exciting speaker in St Davids as part of the exhibition events for Llareggub: Peter Blake illustrates Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood.

“Andrew Lycett's reputation as an acclaimed literary biographer - including books on Ian Fleming, Arthur Conan Doyle and Wilkie Collins, as well as his work on Dylan Thomas- sees him much in demand across the country, and this talk promises to be a fascinating insight into the life of Dylan Thomas, in this year of centenary celebrations.”

At 2pm on Thursday, September 4, Professor Chris Williams of Cardiff University will discuss Richard Burton: Aspirant Scholar in the Discovery Room at Oriel y Parc. Burton is well known for playing the part of First Voice in the 1971 film adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, which was filmed at Lower Town, Fishguard. This event is free but booking is essential.

The special events have been organised to coincide with the Llareggub: Peter Blake illustrates Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood exhibition, which is on display at Oriel y Parc until Tuesday, September 23.
