AT the November meeting of St David’s and Dewisland Historical Society, members were delighted to welcome a number of visitors.
They included the headteachers of Ysgol Bro Dewi and Ysgol Dewi Sant, Sam Vaughan and David Haynes.
Society chairman Carole Lloyd presented them each with a personalised book to keep in their school libraries. It contained a range of photographs and text about St Davids prior to the First World War, so that today's young people could understand what life would have been like had they lived 100 years ago.
The main meeting followed and vice chairman Paul Edey showed some of the pictures, provided by local people, which the society now holds in its archive. The meeting was animated; with Mr Edey asking for and getting much participation from his audience.
The next meeting will be the society's annual Christmas dinner and the AGM will be on January 12 when Malcolm and Anona Grey will recount their visit to the Belgian and French Battlefields.
