THE Officer Commanding the 14th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) based at Cawdor Barracks, Brawdy, is leaving Pembrokeshire.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Purves is taking up a post with the Ministry of Defence in London.

He has served with the Regiment on three occasions and twice while the Regiment has been based in Pembrokeshire.

To mark his departure, Lt. Col. Purves and his wife, Joanne – who has been working locally as a primary school teacher – were guests of Pembrokeshire County Council Chairman, Councillor Tom Richards, at an informal reception in County Hall, Haverfordwest, recently.

After being presented with a council plaque, Lt Col. Purves said: “The stunning and world beating scenery of Pembrokeshire is only beaten by the warmth of the welcome that the Regiment and I have received since we arrived here almost 18 years ago.

“I will cherish my memories of my time in this amazing county and, like anyone who has experienced the magic of Pembrokeshire, will return to visit in the future.”

He will handover command of the Regiment to Lieutenant Colonel Mark Stoter in the New Year.
