A PUBLIC meeting will be held at St Davids Rugby Club on Thursday, February 5 to discuss the future of Ysgol Dewi Sant.
It follows an extraordinary meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council on Thursday, January 29 during which the leader, Councillor Jamie Adams gave his old secondary school a reprieve.
Under the proposals, Ysgol Dewi Sant was due to be discontinued with pupils moving to a new school on the site of Ysgol Bro Gwaun in Fishguard, but Cllr Adams put in a last minute amendment to keep it open for 11-16 year olds.
While the news was welcomed by the local community, they have vowed to fight to retain the sixth form, which under the amendment would be moving to Pembrokeshire College.
The public meeting starts at 6.30pm. Locals are advised to walk as the car park will be prioritised for rugby training.
