A PATIENT at St Davids Surgery has run the Cardiff half marathon to raise funds for new equipment.

Captain Brian Thomas of Croesgoch got his running shoes on to help fund the purchase of medical equipment, including blood pressure monitors.

Brian, who was generously sponsored by patients, said he wanted to raise money for the surgery in recognition of the care and support he was given by the team during his long recovery from a sudden illness in 2011.

“I think we should be really proud of the services we have here in Pembrokeshire,” said Brian.

Brian is no stranger to half-marathons, having run the same race in 2012 to raise money for the A&E department in Withybush.

Dr Margaret Ferguson said: "Brian’s efforts have meant that we have been able to buy additional blood pressure monitors for use in the surgery and in patient's homes. It’s very gratifying to see Brian’s recovery and we are very pleased that he chose to raise money for the surgery, which is so valued in this community."
