THIS year's Parc y Capel Fete at Solva will be held on the Village Green, as usual, on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30th, 2011 and will be opened at 1pm by ex broadcaster Gerry Monte.
In addition to all the usual attractions (Milford Town Band, childrens' sports, various stalls, coconut shy, ponies, pig roast, teas and cakes) there will be a sheep shearing demonstration and the opportunity to join in the creation of a willow wigwam. The Spinners & Weavers Guild will demonstrate their craft and people can learn how to tie knots and splice ropes.
This year's competition is to 'MAKE AN INSECT' between 6" and 24" in length out of whatever fabric you choose. It is hoped there will be a large swarm on display and there will be a mystery prize for the winning insect. Judging will be at 4pm.
IN ADDITION, this year there will be a special event in the form of a snail race. Participants may train their own snails or they can be provided.
Should the weather be unkind the event will be held in Solva Memorial Hall. Plenty of parking has been arranged at the Doctor's Surgery and at Solva Football Club.
