Fire crews from across the county are still at the scene of a gorse blaze in Solva.

Roads have been closed off and school buses from Ysgol Dewi Sant were expected to be an hour late due to the diversions.

More than 50 firefighters were first called to a fire on the mountainside off High Street, at 11.25pm last night (Monday).

The blaze involved three hectares of grass and gorse, with firefighters workingthrough the night contain the fire and prevent it spreading to nearby homes.

Five fire appliances, High Volume Pump,Environment Protection Unit, Water Bowser and New Welfare Unit were all used to combat the fire.

Incident Commander Group Manager Steve Bryant said: "The conditions of the incident at the incident were very challenging for the crews with steep terrain and strong winds, our fire fighters adapted well to these conditions and worked hard to deal with the incident safely."Appliances were still at the scene this afternoon as the blaze reignited and was spread by strong winds.
