A SAUNDERSFOOT man admitted drink driving when he appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court.
Paul Cook, 42, of Pennant Avenue, was caught as he drove along The Ridgeway. A test showed he had 157milligrammes of alcohol in 100ml of urine. The legal limit is 107milligrammes.
“Police stopped the defendant’s car because of its excessive speed,” said prosecutor Ellie Morgan. “He was heading towards the centre of Saundersfoot, and the officer could smell alcohol on his breath.”
Cook gave a positive breath test and was arrested. He gave a urine sample at the police station.
“My client had been at a barbecue,” said Mark Layton, defending. “He didn’t think he was over the limit.”
Magistrates disqualified Cook from driving for 36 months and ordered him to pay a fine, costs and a surcharge totalling £215.
