THE Port of Milford Haven has been welcomed on board as a sponsor of this summer’s charity swim between Caldey Island and Tenby.
The organisation has donated £500 to give a boost to the event, which is expected to raise thousands of pounds for the RNLI when it takes place on Sunday, August 3.
More than 100 swimmers are set to make the crossing from the monastic island to the mainland in the swim, which is now in its second year.
Swimming between Caldey Island and the Tenby is a long-standing tradition in Tenby for individuals and small groups, but last year was the first time for the challenge to take place under the umbrella of the Tenby Sea Swimming Association, which also stages the town’s annual Boxing Day Swim.
It proved such a success - raising £3,400 for the RNLI - that it was decided to make it an annual event.
