THE appeal to replace play equipment in New Hedges has been given a £500 boost by Tenby and District Lions Club.

The village’s popular playground, at the rear of the village hall, was demolished earlier this year because it was not cost-effective to repair.

Thanks to the success of the appeal, the New Hedges Play Area Regeneration Project has now met its target for the first phase of its fundraising.

Said New Hedges Village Hall management committee chairman Howard Rawson-Humphries: “This generous boost by Tenby and District Lions Club means Phase One is now complete. Two pairs of swings are on order through Pembrokeshire County Council’s grounds maintenance department.

“Fundraising for Phase Two - a multi-play unit - will continue into 2018.

Howard received the cheque from Tenby and District Lions Club past president Robert Mayhew, as current president Derek MacGarvie was unable to attend. Members of the Lions and the village hall committee were also present.
