A YOUNG singer has turned a talent contest win into a fundraiser for Help For Heroes.

Nine-year-old Kristian Westmacott, of Tenby, won the chance to make a studio recording as his prize in last year’s Tenby’s Got Talent.

And he has now recorded a music dvd which is now on sale to help the wounded armed forces charity.

Kristian is no stranger to performing in public, as he loves helping out on backing vocals and bongos when his mum and dad, Richie and Arleen, play live as Elephant Gerald and Ella Guru.

“It was entirely Kristian’s own idea to record the dvd for charity, and he chose a song called ‘Sometimes I Wonder’ he had learnt at Tenby Junior School,” explained Arleen. “He said that it meant a lot to him, as it made him think of all the families that had been affected by the war in Afghanistan.”

The dvd was recorded at Mwnci Studios, with the help of community film maker, Sharron Harries from Curious Ostrict film productions and local actor Gary Tapley.

“Everyone has been great in helping Kristian with his project, and he even designed the dvd cover and posters,” added Arleen. “We are really proud of him.”

Kristian - who also plays piano and guitar and is a keen Irish dancer - launched the dvd on BB Skone’s Radio Pembroke-shire programme recently.

Copies are available from Dales Music, Tenby; Tenby Junior School,; Robinson’s Newsagents, Pembroke and Albion Stores, Pembroke Dock. It is priced at £3.99, with all profits going to Help for Heroes.
