A Pembrokeshire tutor has received a royal honour for his work with local catering students.
Jamie Bessant of the PRP Hospitality and Training Academy has been presented with a top City & Guilds award by its president, the Duke of Edinburgh.
The annual Prince Philip Medal ceremony recognises exceptional learners, tutors and assessors who are involved in the scheme, which is the UK’s leading vocational education organisation.
Jamie, of Pentlepoir, who received his certificate at the ceremony at Buckingham Palace, has been working in the hospitality and catering industry for a number of years.
Working as a chef alongside students at a restaurant run by PRP Training showed his talent for inspiring, supporting and engaging learners and so took the NVQ Assessors and Train the Trainer Award to enhance his skills.
Said Jamie: ‘To receive the president’s award for my work is a real honour. The hospitality and catering industry depends on highly trained professionals and for this reason I’ve always put the learners at the heart of my work.”
