A £15M INVESTMENT into a self-catering resort in Laugharne has been announced by its owners.

Luxury Lodges - which rebranded from Seasons last year - has announced it is to expand the development from 77 to 125 lodges, creating up to 110 jobs.

Planning permission for the expansion, to include a new £5m glass-fronted clubhouse, was granted by Carmarthenshire County Council last year.

A spokeswoman for the company said that the development will "combine the most efficient, sustainable and ecologically-sensitive methods of building and technology.

"The brand is working closely with local planning authorities to ensure the conservation of the surrounding historic environment, and envisages a positive impact on local businesses."

The development will include an infinity swimming pool, outside hydrotherapy pool, a panoramic sauna and an elevated restaurant and bar.

It is planned that the state-of-the-art clubhouse will be unveiled in late spring 2019.

Laugharne will join Luxury Lodges' portfolio of self-catering resorts, which includes Clowance and Burn in Cornwall, Whitebarrow in the Lake District and Brunston in Ayrshire Scotland.

Managing director of Luxury Lodges, Ross Grieve, said: "Laugharne is a really important and loved part of the portfolio, which is why we are investing so heavily in updating its facilities.

"We are excited to grow the team and work more closely with the local community as this project develops, and we look forward to unveiling the clubhouse in Spring 2019."
