A 20 foot work boat which sank to the bottom of the haven on Sunday night has been recovered from the sea bed.

The three ton Guardwell, on hire to subcontractors Ledwood and used to take personnel around the site, took on water and sank at around midnight.

She was moored to the barge Waassland, to the north of the South Hook Terminal jetty.

A spokesman for South Hook LNG stressed that nobody was onboard the boat at the time and no-one was injured in the incident.

The sinking resulted in a small spillage of fuel into the haven.

Divers went down to the stricken vessel yesterday lunchtime and she was raised from the seabed and placed onto the barge shortly before 4pm.

The South Hook spokesman said that the said relevant authorities have been informed and that an investigation into the cause of the incident was underway.
