Schoolchildren in St Davids have successfully solved the puzzle of how to move a pond half a mile across the city.
The pond, at the St David's Visitor centre, had been created by the school's eco club, but had to be moved when work began on the new gallery.
The children, helped by their teacher Pat Codd and national park ranger, Ian Meopham, rescued all the wildlife from the pond before the liner was removed and re-installed at the school.
National park wardens helped to prepare the new home for the pond, and topsoil was provided by the gallery contractors, Carreg Construction.
The pond has now been restocked with fish.
Pat Codd said: "We are delighted that we were able to team up with the national park authority and Carreg Construction to move the pond to its new position.
"Ponds are an important wildlife resource and are a perennial favourite with the children."
The £3million St Davids Gallery is being built by the national park authority and Amgueddfa Cymru, the National Museum of Wales.
European Union Objective One programme, the Welsh Assembly Government and Invest Wales (formerly the Wales Tourist Board) are funding the project.
o The gallery is due to open in the summer of 2008.
