An abandoned cat has found a happy home in Llanrhian after months surviving on the streets.
Katy was found abandoned in Fishguard and taken in by Yvonne Parkins, after she was rescued by Ellesmere Rescue Centre, run by Ellie Morris.
Yvonne, who has rescued and rehomed numerous animals, said: “There’s a lot of this going on all over the county, especially young cats. “They are taken in as kittens then people dump them when they grow and they get fed up of them, or their circumstances change, such as moving house.
“It’s probably worse at this time of year, and the credit crunch is having an effect.
“Some domestics can’t survive in an alien environment when they are used to being fed and warm.”
She added: “Katy’s incredibly sweet and very affectionate, but was full of worms and ear-mites when we found her. She also had a chronic chest infection and ulcers, and only three teeth left.
“If she hadn’t been brought in she would have died, but she’s on the mend now — purring, eating and very happy.”
