A year after entering her unsuspecting fiancé in a Mr Wales competition, a beauty therapist is preparing to take part in the female version of the contest.
Caryl Howells, aged 24, of Hermon, has made it though to the final of Miss Wales, which will be held in Cardiff on July 7th.
Her fiancé, Martin Edwards took part in the final last year, and won an award for his charity fund-raising. This year he turned the tables and sent off Caryl's details without her knowing anything about it.
Caryl said: "I've never done anything like this before, but at least I have some idea of what's in store for me.
"Miss Wales is more about charity than glamour these days, and I hoping to raise as much money as possible."
Caryl is hosting a charity ball and auction with the Dhogie Band, at the Cliff Hotel on June 8th, to raise money for the Joshua Foundation.
Tickets are available from Caryl and the Cliff Hotel. For information call 07917 727264.
The competition will involve text voting this year, to support Caryl text misswales37 to 84080.
