Pembrokeshire voters will go to the polls on May 6th after Gordon Brown called a general election today(Tuesday).

Following months of speculation, the widely predicted date was confirmed by the Prime Minister on his return from Buckingham Palace when the Queen dissolved Parliament.

Preseli Pembrokeshire's current MP, Conservative Stephen Crabb, faces competition from Labour's Mari Rees, the Liberal Democrat Nick Tregoning, Henry Jones- Davies of Plaid Cymru and UKIP's Richard Lawson.

South Pembrokeshire incumbent Nick Ainger MP (Labour) is campaigning against Simon Hart of the Conservatives, Plaid Cymru's John Dixon, Liberal Democrat John Gossage, Ray Clarke of UKIP and Independent Henry Langen.

The Electoral Commission Wales is urging people to make sure they are registered to vote or miss out on having a say in this year's general election. The deadline for registration is April 20th.
