ORIEL Q’s Summer Open exhibition at Queens Hall Gallery, Narberth runs until this Sunday, Jul 28, when all the pieces will be auctioned off.

More than 90 paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures of flowers, animals, land and seascapes, abstracts and still life studies are on display.

One of the stars of the show is a large watercolour and ink painting of thorn trees by the late Arthur Giardelli, which is a fine example of his much-loved Pembrokeshire landscapes.

There are also two drawings submitted by Sir Kyffin Williams, a landscape painter who is widely regarded as the defining artist of Wales during the 20th century.

Regular contributors such as Andrea Kelland, Ruth Sargeant, Martin White, Warren Heaton, Christine Kinsey and Elisabeth Haines are some of the 50 artists who have contributed two or three pieces at below the normal selling price.

Auctioneer Osi Rhys Osmond, who is patron of the Friends of Oriel Q, will get the bidding underway at 2pm, with starting prices ranging from a modest £20 to a whopping £1m.

Sealed bids can be received prior to the event either at the gallery or online where there is a simple form to fill in. (Last year one third of the sales went to people who had left a sealed bid.)

The galley will is open every day this week from 10am to 5pm and the exhibition can be viewed online by visiting www.orielqueenshallgallery.org.uk. For more information telephone Lynne Crompton on 01834 869454
