MRS D. LONGHURST

TEMPLETON

THE death occurred at Withybush Hospital on April 4th of Donna Longhurst of Maple Court, Templeton. She was 41.

Originally from Kilgetty, she started work at the age of 16 for Barclays Bank Plc and continued during several bouts of illness, which left her paralysed for long periods.

She finally left Barclays in 2000.

She met her husband Kevin Longhurst in 1996 while attending Welsh classes in Narberth. They married in 1999 and although she was told she would be unable to conceive a child because of previous illnesses, she gave birth to Lowri in 2001.

In 2001 she joined her brother Kevin (KP) at KP Thomas and Son, Templeton, where she worked until 2012.

In 2005 Donna decided to compete in the London Marathon. Although not well at the time, she raised in excess of £12,500 in sponsorship.

She was then diagnosed with cancer and had intensive surgery and treatment.

In 2008 the cancer returned, when she underwent more chemotherapy, and again in 2010. Donna and her husband Kevin walked the London Marathon in 2010 to raise funds for a child bereavement counselling group and a cancer charity, and together they raised £25,000.

Donna decided to work fewer hours and together they purchased a franchise known as Trophy Pet Foods, Pembrokeshire. She also had a great love for photography, attending courses locally and nationally to better her skills.

DL Photography was formed and during 2012 she had nine bookings for weddings.

Unfortunately ill health meant she could only fulfill three of these bookings, but she was determined to find other photographers for the others.

She died after a brave and dignified eight-year fight.
