MRS S. J. SKONE

PEMBROKE DOCK

THE death occurred recently of Sharon Jospehine Skone, of Trinity Road, Pembroke Dock, at the age of 59. She was the wife of the late Peter Skone and beloved mother of two sons Lee and Garran, and nanny to Gethin.

She was born and raised in Pembroke Dock, and was a popular face in the town.

She attended the Coronation School and upon leaving in 1969 began working in the former Coop Offices in Albion Square, where she was to meet many life long friends.

Also around this time she met Peter, and they married in 1974 in St Johns Church. Shortly after she gave up work to start a family and shortly after Lee and Garran were born.

The family then settled in Trinity Road and this remains the family home today.

When her children started school Sharon went back to work, starting as a cleaner in the infants school and later on working in the school kitchen, also at Pembroke Dock Junior School.

The most important thing to her was her family.

In 1994 Peter was diagnosed with cancer and Sharon gave up work to nurse him through his illness.

She remained strong and positive throughout, supporting her family and Peter until his untimely death a few years later.

A ray of light in her life was her grandson Gethin (nanny’s boy) and the family are thankful that she got to spend five precious years with him and dote on him. Sharon was also very proud of her two sons and the men they have become.

The affection and esteem in which she was held was evident by the large number of people who attended her funeral at St Johns Church on May 29th followed by interment at Llanion Cemetery.

Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Lee, Sam and Gethin (son, daughter-in-law and grandson); Garran and Emma (son and partner); Melva and Derryl (sisters); Darren, Gavin and Sian (nephews and niece); John Skone and family (brotherin- law); Rosie Newton and family, Jane Gale and family (sisters-in-law); Aunty Glenys (unable to attend).
